CHATSWORTH
The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, has for over 400 years
been witness to the evolution of fashionable interior design.
The magnificent house and its gardens, open to the public
since it was first built, attracts thousands of visitors every year
who come to admire, appreciate and be inspired by its elegance and
beauty. The Chatsworth Estate is also home to one
of the most prized flocks of sheep, whose wool is ideally suited for
carpets and furnishings.
Resilient British wool has been used in carpets since around the time
that Bess of Hardwick started to build Chatsworth in 1552 and today,
four centuries later, it is still used to make some of the world's
finest floorcovering.
Now, the William Lomas company, has produced a range of carpets befitting
the heritage of Chatsworth and inspired by its treasures and gardens. |

FROM FLEECE
... TO FLOOR
William Lomas Carpets has a well deserved reputation for quality
and value. With all aspects of carpet making under its direct control,
the company can ensure that the highest standards of quality are fully
met. The Chatsworth Collection of carpets uses only
the best british wool, including wool from the Chatsworth Estate,
blended with high-tech man-made fibres, in yarns spun in their own
mill. This high performance yarn combines the very best of all worlds,
the bounce and resilience of British wool and the improved resistance
to abrasion of man-made fibres. The secret of the
subtle colours is controlled by the skill and craftmanship of the
dyers at the company's "Dye House" in the Yorkshire Pennines. The
phrase "Dyed in the wool" has never been more appropriate.
After the dyed yarns have passed all the laboratory tests and
the even more critical eyes of the dyers, they are shipped to the
Rochdale factory to be made into the Chatsworth Collection of exquisite
carpets. Made on state-of-the-art machinery, each
carpet undergoes many rigorous quality checks and, only after a final
inspection, is it then despatched to you. |
